So I am embarking on week number 10. I'll admit, I've been a little slack with the blogging, but at times it just seems like another item on the dreaded "to do list." So my new philosophy is to write when I feel like it. Today is one of those days.
I'm learning with time how to conquer the constant sickness...I keep saltines with me at all times....no joke! They are at my desk, in my kitchen, and even in my car. Seems a bit extreme I know, but it helps.
I'm also starting to show, so this belly of mine if making my old clothes harder to fit into. VERY annoying, because it seems that I don't look pregnant, only fat. I know that will change in due time...
I also just learned that my baby is the size of a prune. Now we're talking - that's big enough to see!! That means on Monday, when I have my first appointment, hopefully it will be an action-packed ultrasound!
My cravings are.....funny. So far, I LOVE carbs and popcicles. I CANNOT get enough cherry popcicles. In fact, I could demolish one right this very second. But all I have are saltines! I've also grown closer to soup - and further away from meat and chicken. But potatoes and mac and cheese are also a delight.
I'll have more news to share on Monday! More later....

7 weeks

Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

So this week, I am discovering that the "bluberry" is making me a little sick. I have had my worst week yet related to morning sickness....which doesn't even happen in the morning. I am learning to eat small meals and to never, ever let my stomach get empty. Other than that, all is well. Hubby is still very excited and we are talking a lot about baby names:-)

6 weeks

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the 6 week mark has been a good one. I'm still very queasy in the evenings, right at 8pm. Ryan thinks it's all in my head, but if I have an empty stomach, I certainly start to feel bad.
I'm also noticing a bad cough every time I eat, or lie down for the evening. I'm assuming this is heartburn or acid reflux. What a delight!
Now, the big questions in our near future are related to insurance. Whew!
